Description

The Fun Stuff:

Learn to build and program an Otto robot These blocky little robots provide an easy hands-on intro into the basics of robotics. We start with what makes a robot and the basic component groups that all robots have, before moving on to building the 3D printed body and assembling the electronic components. What happens once the robot is built? We start having FUN coding Otto to life. We'll start off with block-based coding and then move on to the text-based Arduino programming language to program Otto's touch, ultrasonic, and sound sensors to respond to its environment. Basically, we're making Otto walk, sing, dance, and more based on the inputs received.

The Nitty Gritty Details:

  • Explore mechanical engineering and design
  • Understand the role and functions of inputs, outputs/actuators, and processors
  • Learn loops, conditionals, and functions in a block-based coding environment
  • Learn basics of the Arduino environment and how to upload sketches
